  1. ‘Deadly’ by Morris Gleitzman and Paul Jennings, is a book about two kids named Amy and Sprocket who are trying to save her parents and baby sister. This is not easy to do and they have lots of exciting and weird adventures along the way. Amy and Sprocket are trying to not be seen by strange people called Nudist and Brats, who are trying to trap and kill them. The characters in Deadly are very weird with names like Pooper Scooper and the Tea Lady. The part I remember most is when Sprocket found his Dad frozen in a cool room without any clothes on – very strange! Overall I think ‘Deadly’ is a good book, that is pretty gross but you could die laughing if you decide to read it.

  2. ‘Treasure Fever’ by Andy Griffith, is a book about a kid named Henry McTrottle, his best friend Jenny and a very crazy, but nice teacher called Mr Brainfright. Mr Brainfright teaches the children how to hold their breath and gives out lolly pops. All the students like Mr Brainfright a lot, except for one student who thinks he isn’t doing his job properly. Jenny and Henry have lots of tense and scary adventures looking for treasure throughout the book and the ending is a big surprise. My favourite part of the story when Mr Brainfright falls out of the classroom window and his head gets stuck in the ground. This is a funny and crazy story that will make you laugh and also make you scared. I think Andy Griffith is a great author and I would like to be able to tell stories like him.

  3. “Totally Freaky”
    By Moya Simons
    First published in 2000
Totally Freaky is a book about a twelve year old boy who exchanges brains with an alien. Many adventures happen to them both from then onwards.
The boy had been very interested in surfing but now it was the alien who took over this interest. Many strange happenings followed for the two of them, some of which were very exciting and sometimes dangerous.
Over all, I think “Totally Freaky” is a very exciting story and would be suitable for 8 to 12 year olds.
