Boxer Shorts-Margaret Clark, Fabio Nardo, Puffin Books, 2000. Funny Adventure. 94 pages. One week. Boxer Shorts is about a boy called Boxer who moved from Queensland to Vic. He hates school so much he runs away and this other guy called Nick who goes with him and they where going everywhere. First they go to a mall and steal clothes and money and the police get involved and then they book a hotel and they have between $1000-$1500 and they destroy the room they booked! Then they steal a cruiser and the police are still chasing them and they get into a dingy and they fall asleep in a huge storm and they wake up on an island in Melbourne. They get taken to the local police station by this overtaned maniac and Boxer is taken back to school and he is grounded for the rest of his life.
Speky Magee and the season of champions-Felice Arena, Garry Lyon, Puffin Books, 2004. Good inspiring story.224 pages. 3 weeks. Specky Magge is a story about a thirteen year old boy called Simon Magee that lives in Victoria. He plays A.F.L for the Booyong High Lions and they get to go to the finals but an injury makes him unable to play and his parents have grounded him because he went and played a match when he wasn't supposed to. He has a friend called Samantha and she goes to hospital and when she was in hospital, she convinced Simon to play the game. On the day of the Grand Final Simon has to watch the game but when his parents met Samantha and her Mother, they let him play the last quarter of the game and he kicks the winning goal and they become the Premeiers. After his season he goes to America because he was the winner of the great footy contest. This book is recomended for 11 years to 70 years (because anyone older can't handle the excitement) Specky Magee is a great book and I highly recommend it.
The really really high diving tower-David Metzenthen, Jiri Tibor Novak, Puffin Books, 2003.1 Week.The really really high diving tower is about three kids who go to a local swimming pool every week and they want to try and dive off of a ten metre diving tower but friends have been spreading rumors from 50 years ago. They were saying that a man who dived off the tower did a belly-flop and he split his belly open and he died! First they dived on the 5m springboard at that was easy for them but when they went to the 7m they were very scared but they eventually jumped of it. Then they had some bad news. The pool was shutting down in a week! The first atempt of going off the 10m was delayed because they were to scared and it was to sudden. On the last day they were going to do it and Vinny, the pool boss wanted to aswell but before they were going to jump, and old man who never swims asked if he could have a dive the man put off his t-shirt, and there were scars on his tummy and one of the kids noticed that it was the boy that everyone thought was dead. They dived with a legend and they were proud of themselfs.
Land Of Nod,R.P Cooper, Windy Hollow Books, 2006. 1 Day. The Land Of Nod is a story about a boy called Benjamin and his tedy bear Ted and they are in bed and when they're sleeping they dream about a magical land and they go around in a little row boat. First they go to a lighthouse and the lighthouse is dark because the lighthouse keeper's golden bird has been stolen by the evil one-eyd Bugaboos. Then theyset off on an adventuere to find the magical bird. Then they find out were the bird is and its in the forest of woooooo and when they see the bird, they are ambushed by the scary bugaboos. Benjamin and Ted are tied up and they can't get out of it. Then Benjamin stands up and breaks through the rope and says, "THIS IS MY DREAM, IT IS NOT A NIGHTMARE! Then they get so scared they turn into stone and they were gone forever. Then they take the bird back to the lighthouse and the bird is shining bright in the lighthouse.
David Gets in Trouble, David Shannon, THE BLUE SKY PRESS, 2002. 1 Day. David Gets in Trouble is a book about a naughty boy called David. He was always naughty and he never cared and the things he did got worse and worse and the punishments were getting worse aswell and he still didn't care. But one night when he was sleeping he yelled out "I DO CARE!" and then he said sorry to his mother and he knew that he was being bad and he wasn't bad or naughty at all and David was now a good boy.
At the Beach, Roland Harvey,Allen & Unwin, 2004. 1 Day.At the Beach is a book about about a boy and a Mum and Dad and a Grandma. The Mum and Dad and the Son are the only ones that go to a place called Crabby Spit. It is a very hot place, but the best place is the beach. Everyday the boy sends letters to his Grandma and he draws a picture of were he is on the beach. There are reefs and diving rocks and the normal beach with sand and waves aswell. Each time its a new day, its a new adventure
The Polar Regions, David Roots, 2003.5 Days. The Polar Regions is a great book for information about antarctic exploration and it could of had a little bit more of information but it was still a good book.
